Tuesday: Coffeehouse Cabaret (Toronto)

Coffeehouse Cabaret features an open stage of music, poetry, spoken word, and comedy, with featured performers:

singer-songwriter Karyn Ellis

performance poet Yaseemi

Come early-ish to sign up if you want to perform on the open stage.

Karyn Ellis recently released a new CD, Even Though the Sky Was Falling. About her previous CD, Hearts Fall, CBC's Amanda Putz wrote: "Her voice is lovely, the arrangements are simple and clever, and there's an almost rustic quality to the record -- likely from being recorded live off the floor -- that makes it extra sweet."

Yaseemi describes herself as a "card-carrying member of the human race, looking to connect and communicate through art: spoken word poetry, dance, music and visual art. Yaseemi, your poetic matchmaker, linking you with the sounds that your ears need today. Looking to fulfill my life's purpose: fearless self-expression."
